Care & Seasoning

Seasoning Methods

Stovetop Method

  1. On a clean, dry pan, add a small amount of a high-smoke-point oil (like sunflower or groundnut oil) and spread it thinly across the entire cooking surface, inside and out.
  2. Place the pan over medium-high heat and let it sit until the oil begins to smoke lightly.
  3. Turn off the heat and let the pan cool completely — for best results, repeat this once more before your first cook.

Oven Method

  1. On a clean, dry Earthfit pan, apply a very thin layer of a high-smoke-point oil (like sunflower or groundnut oil), covering the entire cooking surface.
  2. Place the lightly oiled pan upside down in a 245°C (475°F) oven for one hour, with foil or a tray on the rack below to catch drips.
  3. Turn off the oven and let your Earthfit cool completely before removing it.

Everyday Care

Hand Wash Only

Warm water and a soft sponge is all you need. Avoid dishwashers and harsh detergents.

Dry Immediately

Towel dry right after washing to prevent moisture from causing rust.

Oil After Every Use

A light coat of oil keeps the seasoning strong and the surface protected.

Store Somewhere Dry

Keep your pan in a dry space, away from prolonged moisture exposure.

What to Avoid

Don't put it in the dishwasher. Harsh detergents and prolonged water exposure strip seasoning.

Don't soak it in water, a quick wash is enough; soaking invites rust.

Don't use metal scouring pads, they can scratch away built-up seasoning.

Avoid cooking very acidic dishes in a brand-new, unseasoned pan, build up a few seasoning layers first.

If Your Pan Rusts
here's the fix

A little rust isn't damage — it's just a sign your pan needs some attention, and it's easy to fix.

  1. Scrub the rusted area with a mix of coarse salt and a little oil, using a soft cloth or scrubber.

  2. Rinse and dry the pan completely.

  3. Re-season using either the stovetop or oven method above, to restore the protective layer

Your pan will be back to normal, ready for its next meal — good as new.

Common Questions (FAQ)

  • Wash your Earthfit with warm water and a little mild dish soap to clear away any leftover food or debris. Yes, dish soap is perfectly fine to use. Rinse well, dry it thoroughly right away, and it's ready for its next use.

  • With regular cooking, your Earthfit will keep building its own seasoning naturally, getting darker and smoother with every use. Every so often — particularly after cooking something acidic, or after a deep clean to remove stuck-on food — it may need a fresh layer. If the surface ever looks stripped or dull, simply follow one of the seasoning methods above to bring it back.

  • Yes, absolutely. Ingredients like tomatoes, tamarind, or lemon can temporarily strip or lighten the seasoning, especially while the pan is still new. This is completely normal and nothing to be concerned about, just re-season afterward. As your pan matures with use, acidic ingredients will affect it less and less.

  • It's completely normal for your Earthfit's surface to change appearance as you cook. Acidic or heavy ingredients can strip away a bit of seasoning here and there, which is easily restored with another seasoning layer. Over time and with continued use, the surface will keep maturing — growing darker, smoother, and more naturally non-stick, eventually reaching that deep black finish cast iron lovers look for.

  • Yes, a light smoke is expected and means the oil is bonding properly to the surface. Just make sure your kitchen is ventilated while doing this.
